Meet Dr. N, an experienced communication studies instructor with a passion for helping students feel at ease in public speaking. Since 2002, she’s shared her expertise with thousands of students, guiding them toward greater comfort and confidence. Dr. N resides in Austin, TX, alongside her family and two furry companions.
Her academic journey includes earning a PhD in Interpersonal Communication from the University of Texas at Austin in 2011. Her research focused on understanding how romantic couples navigate secrecy in their relationships. With this background, Dr. N brings a wealth of knowledge to her teaching.
Dr. N has been a valuable part of the ACC community since 2006, with a break from 2016 to 2018. She appreciates the flexibility that ACC offers, allowing her to explore various teaching opportunities. Beyond traditional classes, she has taught Conversational English to Chinese students online, conducted an intensive public speaking course in Florida, and instructed Presentational Speaking at St. Edwards University for the past two years.
Her teaching experience extends beyond ACC to institutions such as South Dakota State University, University of Texas, Concordia University, DeVry University, and South University. Throughout her career, Dr. N has maintained a commitment to rigor and equity in her classrooms, serving as a mentor to numerous college students.
Recently, Dr. N was awarded an AI Fellowship for the academic year 2024-2025. Excited about exploring AI’s impact on communication in higher education, she looks forward to delving into cutting-edge advancements in the field.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Dr. N proudly supports the LGBTQ+ community and has completed the ALLY training at ACC. Her dedication to fostering inclusive environments, combined with her mentorship and commitment to academic excellence, reflects her genuine passion for education and student success.
