Ryan Russell is a lecturer in marketing at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. He is a nine-year veteran of social media and digital strategy, and he has extensive experience crafting powerful digital strategies, growing active online communities, and generating engaging, consistent digital advertising.
With both agency and brand experience, Russell has guided B2B and B2C brands through all stages of development. He is the co-founder of Russell Marketing, a marketing and consulting agency with a focus on ROI-driven strategy and execution for clients around the world.
We asked Professor Russell a few questions. His answers are below:
WHAT STUKENT COURSEWARE HAVE YOU USED?
My primary usage of Stukent products has been with the Mimic Pro simulation, however, I’ve introduced Stukent to a number of my colleagues, who are now utilizing “Digital Marketing Essentials” and Mimic Analytics. I’m incredibly passionate about Stukent’s model that puts the needs of teachers and students first. The Stukent team is second to none!
WHAT TEACHING TIPS WOULD YOU SHARE WITH OTHER PROFESSORS?
It may sound simple, but love your students and make sure they know it. That means spending extra time with them outside of the classroom talking about things like mental health, their career goals, and their college experience.
I even bring my family to class early in the semester, so my students can get to know me too. It’s not the easy way to be a professor, but students don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES AND TALENTS?
I’m a founding member of the Official Liverpool Supporters Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We all get together to watch and cheer for Liverpool soccer, even the 7:30 a.m. games on Saturdays! It’s actually become a fun thing for my students as well. Several of them have joined my family to watch the games!
