Before becoming a senior instructor at DePaul University, Christine Hjorth spent her time building a career in brand management. Her hard work earned her the opportunity to lead and work with iconic brands at Kraft Heinz, such as Kraft Mac & Cheese, Philadelphia Cream Cheese, and Kraft Singles. With her experience, Christine infuses real-world insights into her classroom to inspire her students.
“I loved my time in brand management working with talented people from all different backgrounds,” Christine said. “My transition to teaching has been a great journey, and for sure uncomfortable at times. But I enjoy the constant learning and stretching to a subject matter expert and learning from all the fantastic students.”
In recognition of her passion for marketing and commitment to preparing future professionals, Christine has been named Stukent’s® Professor of the Month for November 2023!
Christine uses Stukent’s Social Media Simternship™, a social media marketing simulation designed to give students real-world experience with platform-specific strategy. Using the simulation, students practice targeting various demographics through social media content creation and promotion, learn how to measure KPIs, manage thousands of simulated ad dollars, and more.
“[It is a] great way to get a feel for what it is like to use a software platform, like Hootsuite or Sprout Social, to manage social networks,” Christine said. “It is also a great way to put into action the course concepts of audience identification, content strategy, and paid or organic strategies.”
