We asked Matthew a few questions. His answers are below.

WHAT STUKENT COURSEWARE HAVE YOU USED?

The past few years we used Mimic Pro so undergraduate marketing majors in MKTG 473 – Digital Marketing can gain practical experience in SEM and e-mail marketing to drive conversions through landing page design. Because of the demand to learn more about social, I switched to the Mimic Social this semester for students to gain experience in organic and paid content creation and campaign management.

WHAT TEACHING TIPS WOULD YOU SHARE WITH OTHER PROFESSORS?

After the simulation is completed, I have the student groups present a final executive summary of their strategy objective, snapshot of their tactics, key highlights in certain rounds, and recommendations to management moving forward.  The challenge of the presentation is to not give a rehash of each round decisions and results. The amount of analytics and insights the simulation gives allows our Penn State students to gain this experience inside the classroom.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES AND TALENTS?

I keep busy with my two boys, ages 7 and 4, and what is funny is how I even continue to learn about social media through my oldest when he sends me Snaps. Also, I do have a German Shepherd puppy of 4 months who gains more likes on my posts when she’s included than pictures without her.
