March Madness Challenge Winners

This year basketball fans enjoyed one of the most exciting NCAA Men’s basketball tournaments in recent memory.

For the first time ever, a 16-seed upset a 1-seed when UMBC (University of Maryland, Baltimore County) beat Virginia, the tournament’s number 1 overall seed.

We also got introduced to Sister Jean, the Loyola University Chicago basketball team chaplain, who became a legend while supporting her team all the way to the Final Four.

But it all ended April 2 with Villanova’s dominating performance over the University of Michigan, thus ending another great March Madness.

Now that the tournament champion has been named, it is our turn to announce the Stukent March Madness Challenge 2018 champions.

Top 3 Winners:

1st Place: Tracy Skallman

Taylor Falls, Minnesota | Bemidji State University | Marketing Communication Student

Tracy recently returned to college in January to pursue a degree in Marketing Communications at Bemidji State University. She also works full time as an Audience Development Manager. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, traveling, golfing (when there isn’t any snow), spending time with family, and watching sports. She is a big Vikings, Wild, and Timerwolves fan!

She attributes her 1st place bracket to a bunch of good guesses,  and “one hot tip I heard in passing from someone on TV (I can’t remember who – some sports guy) about Loyola Chicago potentially being a ‘Cinderella story’ in the competition.”

2nd Place: Coyle

Mystery contestant… 🙂

3rd Place: Sara Neff

Storrs, Connecticut | University of Connecticut

Congratulations on the third place finish this year!

Prizes:

  • 1st place: $200 Amazon gift card
  • 2nd place: $75 Amazon gift card
  • 3rd place: $25 Amazon gift card

Stukent Champion

The announcement of the winners comes with another: because Villanova uses Stukent courseware, $100 has been added to the grand prize, bringing the first-place award to $300.

This year, 35 of the 68 schools competing in the NCAA tournament use Stukent courseware, including three of the Final Four teams.

Thank you for all of the students and instructors who participated in this year’s challenge, and make sure you come back next year to compete again.
