Join educators who teach the full picture of accounting, financial and managerial, in one place
Students don't just survey the concepts, they apply both disciplines inside the same business scenario.
The Stukent® Survey of Accounting Simternship® puts students in the role of an accounting intern at Friendly Frosting, a simulated bakery working through real business challenges. Across seven rounds, students analyze and classify financial transactions, evaluate operational and financing activities, compute financial ratios, and apply structured frameworks to interpret data — drawing on both financial and managerial accounting principles to do it. Each round builds on the last, so students see how the two sides of accounting connect inside a single, running business scenario.
The Stukent Survey of Accounting Simternship integrates seamlessly with any survey of accounting course, regardless of which textbook, edition, or publisher you rely on.
Give students fluency in the language businesses run on
From reading a financial statement to analyzing cost behavior and evaluating business performance, every round builds a working knowledge of the accounting principles that show up in everyday business functions.
This is the first accounting course my students have actually enjoyed. The clarity and support built into the platform make all the difference.
— Dr. S. Martinez, University of Northern Colorado
Both sides of accounting, built into one text
The "Survey of Accounting" courseware gives students a complete introduction to both financial and managerial accounting — from analyzing transactions and preparing financial statements through cost behavior, budgeting, and strategic decision-making. Co-authors Jim Stice and Kay Stice bring a combined 70+ years of teaching accounting at Brigham Young University, with Jim's additional experience in executive education at IBM and Ernst & Young and as a visiting professor at INSEAD.
The fact that you guys have an accounting textbook and a simulation, oh my gosh, I would have been a better accounting undergraduate student if I got to actually learn by doing and not just having to memorize rote formulas that a professor taught me, that I could actually practice it on my own and get to fail in a safe space for that. I trust the organization so much.
Ryan Russell, Instructor, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
