Location: Everett, Washington
Jodi Jacobs has taught a total of 19 years and has spent 16 of those years at Cascade High School. She teaches career and technical education, is the DECA advisor, the CTE department head, the nonofficial business and professional services pathway facilitator, and serves as head cross country coach.
Jodi graduated from Marysville-Pilchuck High School and attended Central Washington University. She lives with her husband, Tom, an aviation mechanic, and her puppy, Rufus, who is the love of her life. She enjoys running, camping, playing on her computer, and watching TV.
We asked Jodi a few questions. Her answers are below.
WHAT STUKENT COURSEWARE HAVE YOU USED?
I have used Mimic Personal Finance in my career and college readiness class. I am also using Mimic Social in my social media marketing class.
WHAT TEACHING TIPS WOULD YOU SHARE WITH OTHER TEACHERS?
I tell a lot of stories. I share my experiences, things I have heard, and what is happening all around us. If I heard about something or experienced something that relates to what they are learning, I tell my students all about it. I feel that this keeps my students informed and entertained … I am very dramatic when I tell them my stories.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES AND TALENTS?
I am an avid runner. Last year I set a goal to run 2,020 miles and I ran 2,094. This is not only a goal because it is far but also because I got a D in PE in high school because I could not run the mile.
