NICK MATTAR

Content Marketing

About Nick

I’m from Detroit, Mich. I’m a part-time marketing faculty member at Wayne State University and adjunct faculty member at Minnesota State Community and Technical College.

I’ve been in digital marketing for 10 years in sports and B2B business organizations. I also own my own digital marketing education business that works with companies to up-skill entry-level marketers.

Why is education important to you?

Digital marketing was not something my generation had the luxury of learning in school. We have an obligation now to educate the new generation of marketers to keep digital marketing evolving and making the business world a better place.

What is your favorite teaching moment?

I don’t have a single favorite moment but any time a former student lands a great job in digital, I feel proud and happy for them.

What challenges do you face as a professor today?

Online asynchronous learning is hard for undergrads. My best teaching moments are in-person, walking through concepts, and the online course has eliminated much of my unique teaching style.

What does being an Innovation Partner mean to you?

Being an Innovation Partner means to be a part of a community of forward-thinking individuals that helps shape the future of education. It means I’m a pioneer in digital marketing education and providing cutting-edge products that make learning an optimal experience for both students and educators.

How did you find out about Stukent?

My mentor at WSU heard about Stukent in 2016.

What makes you want to innovate with Stukent?

Stukent was doing everything I liked about higher education.

What's your most embarrassing moment?

Anytime there is even a small typo or inconsistency in my courseware, I consider it to be the most embarrassing moment.

What are your hobbies?

I play and watch basketball, run outside, and am a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I also spend way too much time on TikTok.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?

My favorite movie is “The Dark Knight,” and my favorite TV show is “Survivor.” I got back into “Survivor” during the pandemic. I watched the first 10 seasons as a kid and then just caught up this past year.
