Matthew J. Kushin, Ph.D. is an associate professor in the Department of Communication at Shepherd University. As a professor, scholar, and consultant, he has spent the last 12+ years exploring the role of social media in civic society and has dedicated his career to helping others harness social media to build relationships. He is the author of Social Media Syllabus (at MattKushin.com), a popular blog and resource tool for social media educators. Dr. Kushin was previously the Director of ICBO One Global Digital Strategy for the partner organizations of the International Congress of Behavioral Optometry where he helped plan, secure sponsorship for, and launch the ICBO One social mobile app for the global behavioral optometry community.
