Elaine Winship

Business Communication

Stukent Author • Subject Matter Expert

I’m from Washingtonville N.Y. I received my bachelors in communication from St. Thomas Aquinas College.

I also worked for 14 years for Verizon Wireless as a corporate trainer and then a training manager/director.

Why is education important to you?

Ideas are important to me, and education, done well, sparks ideas, creativity and critical thinking.

What does being an Innovation Partner mean to you?

I would define an innovative partner as a relationship where both participants help each other to grow and become the best version of themselves.

What made you want to innovate with Stukent?

First, I believed in their products and students respond to the texts and simulations. Secondly, every person I worked with was pleasant, positive and willing to go above and beyond to help. I never imagined I would write a text and help with a simulation. Stukent came to me for that, which was an honor, and here I am, almost done with my courseware and simulation. The entire Stukent team is wonderful!

What are your hobbies?

Currently I’m obsessed with Italy. I would love to live there, but my husband and co-author, doesn’t want to hear about it. So now, I’m on to “Italy plan b” — trying to learn Italian, and planing to visit Italy every year. My husband “is” on board with that plan (Grazie Dio)! I also love flowers, so I’m growing some zinnias and cosmos at the moment. I enjoy antiquing and attending Broadway plays and musicals and of course, spending time with my husband doing everything and anything, he is my greatest gift in life.

What is your favorite TV show?

This is so hard for me. I find myself always thinking of Forest Gump. The concept that our lives are as fragile as a feather that floats slowly through time and lands here and there along the journey. I find that very frightening and exhilarating at the same time.

"Thanks again for allowing my class to participate in the testing of this simulation.
They really loved it and report weekly about how much they are learning."
