ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr. Alexa Fox

Dr. Alexa Fox

Dr. Alexa Fox is an assistant professor of marketing at The University of Akron (Ph.D., The University of Memphis). Her research interests include digital marketing, user-generated content, online privacy, and physiological measurement of cognition and emotion. Her work on visual user-generated social media content was selected as 2018 Outstanding Paper in Journal of Consumer Marketing. Alexa teaches social media marketing, digital marketing, and consumer behavior. Prior to academia, she worked in strategic and online marketing.

What's New in Social? How to Implement a Social Media Marketing Trend Exercise Using Facebook Live

Alexa’s session will offer useful “tips and tricks” for effective implementation of this dynamic exercise — students compose blog articles about a trending social media marketing topic, which are assessed by the instructor and marketing professionals from a local agency, and the top selections are published on the company’s publication network. Students then present the topics via a Department of Marketing Facebook Live event, during which community and local marketing professionals tune in and share feedback live. Bring your questions about this exciting exercise!

Kristin Minetti

Kristin Minetti is faculty at California State University, Chico in the marketing department. She is also a section instructor for Washington State University’s online MBA program. She attained her MBA online from Washington State University in 2015 and knows what it takes to be successful in an online environment. Kristin is passionate about personal development and is an advisor to multiple clubs and sororities. She enjoys helping students discover their passions and reach their goals.

Dr. Gabriel Warren

Dr. Gabriel Warren is the MBA program director and an assistant professor of marketing at Bemidji State University. Prior to transitioning into higher education, Gabriel spent 12 years working in industry in the capacity of sales, sales management, and marketing roles. He has presented at several professional and academic conferences along with publishing a few peer-reviewed journal articles.

Dr. Mel Zuberi

Dr. Mel F. Zuberi is an assistant professor of marketing at Hood College and is the current president of the association of collegiate marketing educators. His research explores marketing theory formation and marketing distribution channels strategy. He has been published in peer-reviewed journals and proceedings. Mel has taught a variety of courses including digital and social media marketing, strategic marketing channels, and marketing research and analytics.

Steve Wiideman

Steve Wiideman of Wiideman Consulting Group is a scientist and practitioner of local and e-commerce search engine optimization and paid-search advertising. Steve specializes in strategy, planning, and campaign oversights. He personally played a role in the inbound successes of brands such as Disney, Honda, Skechers, Applebee’s, Dole, and others. Steve works as an adjunct professor at Cal State Fullerton, UC San Diego, and Fullerton College. He teaches a variety of courses in website design, SEO, SEM, and online advertising.

In this session, adjunct professor Steve Wiideman will guide you through various elements of teaching how to build a comprehensive strategy for SEO, including foundational technical, contextual, and off-page visibility deliverables that leave students equipped to hit the ground running. Teaching search engine optimization can feel overwhelming with constantly evolving algorithms and techniques. But creating a structured SEO strategy, not tied to unpredictable changes in how search engines serve results, can create the groundwork for a successful optimization effort without the nuances of technique.
