Breanne Mertz - Breanne A. Mertz (Bre) is a fourth-year Doctoral Marketing candidate at Louisiana Tech University. Bre currently teaches digital marketing and consumer behavior, and her research interests focus on optimizing individual well-being which she explores in consumer behavior and services contexts. Ashley Hass - Ashley Hass is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in marketing at Texas Tech University. Her research focuses on social media influencers, brand communities, digital marketing, and consumer well-being. She has a passion for mentoring students that reflects her background in athletics. Kelley Cours Anderson - Kelley Cours Anderson, Assistant Professor of Marketing at the College of Charleston, is obsessed about how emerging technology impacts the way we consume and build markets. She enjoys collaborating with industry to develop cutting-edge research and inspiring ethical marketing practices.
This session explores the idea of Social Media Wellness in both research and pedagogical contexts. First, the speakers will present their research titled, #SocialMediaWellness: Exploring a Research Agenda for Healthy Social Media Consumption, which won Best Paper in the Marketing of HigherEd SIG Future Trends in Consumer Behavior Special Session at the Winter 2022 American Marketing Association (AMA) conference. Second, the speakers discuss how the topic of social media wellness can be intertwined and cultivated in the classroom. Time for discussion is allotted following the presentation.
