Dr. Theresa B. Clarke holds the Wampler-Longacre Eminent Scholars Professor of Marketing. She was the 2008 Madison Scholar in the College of Business for excellence in scholarly achievement at James Madison University. She is a recipient of numerous teaching awards including being named a two-time recipient of the Kenneth Bartee Innovation in Teaching Award. In the JMU College of Business, she teaches Principles of Marketing, Strategic Internet Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communications, Search Advertising, and Information Security Ethics and Policy. Prior to her work at JMU, she was a member of the marketing and e-commerce faculty at Old Dominion University and a teaching/research assistant at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Clarke has industry experience at the Rossborough Inn, JBI Customized Computer Solutions, California University of Pennsylvania’s Entrepreneurial Assistance Center and Mon Valley Renaissance Program, IBM, and Service Corporation International.
Dr. Clarke is co-editor of the book entitled Advances in Electronic Marketing and her varied publications have appeared in numerous journals including Industrial Marketing Management, International Marketing Review, International Journal of Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Marketing, The Journal of Electronic Commerce in Organizations, The Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management, The Journal of Internet Commerce, The Journal of Marketing Education, The Journal of Online Learning and Teaching, Marketing Education Review, ,Journal of Brand Management, and Journal of Business Research.
Dr. Clarke has served as Vice President of Research and Publications for the Society for Marketing Advances, Web Manager for Marketing Education Review, Business Portal Editor for MERLOT, Editor of the Academy of Marketing Science Quarterly, and a member of the review boards of various marketing journals. She also serves as a member of the Global Academic Panel for the Google Online Marketing Challenge.
At JMU Dr. Clarke is the faculty advisor for the JMU Ad Club, a member of the Honor Council, and a member of the Judicial Council. In her spare time, she enjoys travel and leisurely activities with her family, yoga, volunteering in her son’s school, helping with her son’s Cub Scout pack, and serving in the Children’s Religious Education Program at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
